Who are we ? Meet two of our partners: Nokia France and Nokia Italy
X-TREME 6G is run by a consortium of 17 companies, universities and research centers who decided to join their strengths and assets within one project to define the future of 6G in Europe, at the unique intersection of microlectronics and telecommunications.
Nokia focuses on creating technologies that help the world act together. As a B2B technology innovation leader, the company has been pioneering networks that sense, think and act by leveraging its work across mobile, fixed and cloud networks.
In X-TREME 6G, we have the privilege to benefit from the expertise of two of Nokia’s offices: Nokia France and Nokia Italy:
First, as our project’s innovation manager, in the person of Mohand Achouche, who shared with us his impressions of, and ambitions for X-TREME 6G:
„The X-TREME 6G project relies on a unique industry led consortium to establish and maintain a foundational “Microelectronic Lighthouse” in Europe with the objective to create and design key disruptive next generation chiplets and chipsets for 6G use cases. Nokia as a world leader in connectivity will provide tangible contributions towards an experimentation EU framework for 6G, demonstrating the full benefit of the newly developed RFICs for a set of emerging 6G high potential use cases. As a major actor of the telecom industry, we look forward to nurture the links with the Chips JU Pilot Lines.“
Then, as a leader of X-TREME 6G’s architecture activities, in the presence of Mario Giovanni Luigi Frecassetti, who will also substantially contribute to X-TREME 6G’s activities related to wireless backhauling and network as a sensor. About this specific role, MGL Frecassetti stated:
„Nokia Italia is proud to participate in this groundbreaking project. The initiative brings together a diverse range of cutting-edge technologies, including the forthcoming AI/ML, and a team of multidisciplinary experts. This unique combination will enable us to develop and test innovative solutions crucial for navigating an increasingly competitive future. Nokia’s involvement underscores our commitment to driving technological advancements and maintaining our industry leadership“
And finally, as a precious contributor to activities related D-Band and H-Band transceivers design, including RFIC designs for 6G applications as wireless transmission and Integrated Communication and Sensing (ISAC); under the leadership of Emmanuel Froger, who said:
“Nokia France is thrilled to join this European project, bringing together its researchers and engineers inside multi skilled teams. We are eager to collaborate for developing an innovative generation of efficient products. These studies on emerging RF technologies will allow us to share our knowledge and gain expertise.”
X-TREME 6G project has received fundings from the Smart Networks and Services Joint Undertaking (SNS JU) under the Horizon Europe research and innovation programme under Grant Agreement NO 101192681
