Who are we? Meet our partner – Karlsruhe Institute of Technology
X-TREME 6G is run by a consortium of 17 companies, universities and research centers who decided to join their strengths and assets within one project to define the future of 6G in Europe, at the unique intersection of microlectronics and telecommunications.
Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, in short KIT, combines major Helmhotz research infrastructure with the university environment and a long tradition and history, making it one of the largest research centers in Europe. Therefore, X-TREME 6G is glad to have KIT within its pool of partners!
The Karlsruhe Institute of Technology “creates and imparts knowledge for the society and the environment. It is the objective to make significant contributions to the global challenges in the fields of energy, mobility, and information”. KIT’s Institute of Radio Frequency Engineering and Electronics will bring a significant contribution to X-TREME 6G’s advancements, with specific efforts on the exploration of densely integrated multi-channel millimeter-wave systems, as well as IC design and packaging.
As said by Ahmet Cagri Ulusoy, KIT’s representative within X-TREME 6G –
“In X-TREME 6G we will pursue a unified hardware development approach that makes use of high-performance Si/SiGe technology with high integration density, which is to be seamlessly integrated with III-V InP frontend ICs in an AiP platform for extreme 6G performance”
As a contributor to Germany’s Open6Ghub project, KIT will also be able to Integrate X-TREME 6G into its open test bed, which is developed within this national framework, highlighting X-TREME 6G’s potential for interconnectivity and knowlege transfer with similar projects led in Europe.
X-TREME 6G project has received fundings from the Smart Networks and Services Joint Undertaking (SNS JU) under the Horizon Europe research and innovation programme under Grant Agreement NO 101192681.
