Who are we? Meet our partner – CEA-Leti

X-TREME 6G is run by a consortium of 17 companies, universities and research centers who decided to join their strengths and assets within one project to define the future of 6G in Europe, at the unique intersection of microlectronics and telecommunications.

CEA-Leti, a technology research institute at CEA, is a global leader in miniaturization technologies enabling smart, energy-efficient and secure solutions for industry. Founded in 1967, CEA-Leti pioneers micro-& nanotechnologies, tailoring differentiating applicative solutions for global companies, SMEs and startups. CEA-Leti tackles critical challenges in healthcare, energy and digital migration.

CEA has a key role in transferring scientific knowledge and innovation from research to industry. This high-level technological research is carried out in particular in electronic and integrated systems, from microscale to nanoscale. It has a wide range of industrial applications in the fields of transport, health, safety and telecommunications, contributing to the creation of high-quality and competitive products.

As said by Jose-Luis Gonzalez-Jimenez, CEA-Leti’s representative within X-TREME 6G –

“The X-TRME 6G European project is a first experience where two communities, the signal processing (SNS) and the microelectronics platforms, will work together to bring Europe to the next stage of maturity on semiconductor technologies for next generation communications systems. I’m convinced that this approach will allow to innovate in the frontiers and intersections between the two domains, leveraging the expertise of the many partners of the project in technology optimization, advanced packaging, RF and digital baseband design and new algorithms and waveforms for communications and sensing applications, with the overall goal to optimize energy consumption and sustainability, and provide platforms so that other European players can further develop their systems and applications for 6G and other communications applications stemming from the project results.”

X-TREME 6G project has received fundings from the Smart Networks and Services Joint Undertaking (SNS JU) under the Horizon Europe research and innovation programme under Grant Agreement NO 101192681.
